Who this is for

For the person who has been blending on their
kitchen counter and wants to know what happens next.

We assume you're serious. We cover the parts most programs skip — compliance, brand, commerce — and refuse to dumb down the parts most programs oversimplify.

For you, if —

  • 01
You have an unusually good nose and an appetite for the full commercial practice — not just composition, but the work of building a brand around it.
  • 02
You've been making fragrance informally and you're ready to professionalize. You've outgrown YouTube and Reddit but ISIPCA is out of reach.
  • 03
You're a beauty-adjacent product developer (skincare, haircare, body care) who needs real fragrance fluency to brief perfumers competently.
  • 04
You're a founder who would rather learn the craft than outsource it — because the brand you're building requires your taste inside the juice.

Not for you, if —

  • 01
You want a weekend workshop or a quick YouTube playlist. This curriculum rewards sustained attention.
  • 02
You expect to be told you're talented. The modules will be honest with you. Compliments are given, but only when earned.
  • 03
You want to skip regulatory and compliance. Those modules are not optional. A fragrance you can't legally ship is not a fragrance.
  • 04
You believe perfumery is pure artistry and intuition. It's both that and a learnable technical discipline. We teach the discipline.
The Curriculum

Twenty modules across eight phases — from foundations to your own shipped bottle.

The arc is deliberate: you learn to smell, then to name, then to mix, then to compose, then to engineer, then to comply, then to brand, then to launch.

Phase 02

Raw Materials Mastery

Naturals and synthetics. Extraction methods. The discipline of knowing one material deeply.

3 modules · 3 kits

Self-contained lessons with embedded knowledge checks. Built to read like a serious book and work like a workbook.

02

Lifetime access & updates

One purchase, permanent access. Modules updated as the regulatory and commercial landscape changes.

03

Kit specifications PDF

Forty-one page reference covering every physical item required — vetted suppliers, SKUs, and cost estimates if you'd rather source materials yourself.

The Kits — Optional

Buy a perfumery bench, à la carte.

Eleven optional kits, each sourced to a module. Order what you need, when you need it. International shipping included.

You cannot learn perfumery from a screen. You can only learn it from a wrist, a blotter, and a disciplined hour per day. The kits exist so your hour is spent on the craft.

Reference Set

36 aroma vials across 7 odor families, 200 blotters, scent journal, blind-test labels, wooden presentation case.

NAT-01 Module 04

Naturals Set

12 vials showcasing extraction methods — rose otto vs. absolute, distilled vs. solvent-extracted jasmine, Haitian vs. Bourbon vetiver.

SYN-01 Module 05

Synthetics Set

18 vials of the modern palette — Hedione, Iso E Super, Calone, Ambroxan, Habanolide, and the other molecules that built contemporary perfumery.

PRF-01 Module 06

Profiling Set

6 practice vials and a 48-page profiling journal for the deep-study exercises that build real material fluency.

Reverse Engineering Kit

A commercial niche reference fragrance (rotated by cohort) and the candidate materials needed to reconstruct it at the bench.

FMT-01 Module 13

Formats Kit

Primary packaging to build the same formula in three formats: alcohol spray, oil rollerball, and candelilla-wax solid.

The Capstone

Twenty bottles.
Twenty customers.
Your first real launch.

The program doesn't end with a certificate. It ends with a shipped product.

Brand thesis. Olfactory brief. Reference constellation. First 20 g mixed sample.

Week 02

Rounds 2–8

One or two iterations per day. Every version saved, dated, and logged.

Week 03

External panels

Blind comparisons with three to five trusted evaluators. Rounds 9–15.

Week 04

Lock & stabilize

Commit to the submission formula. Cold, light, and thermal stability checks.

Week 05

Compliance & fill

Frequently Asked

Honest answers to the real questions.

How long does the program take?

It is fully self-paced. Most students complete the curriculum in 12 to 20 weeks, working roughly 6 to 10 hours per week. Some take a year or longer — the modules remain available to you indefinitely, and many students return to specific modules repeatedly throughout their first years of practice.

What do I get for $395.00?

Lifetime access to all 20 interactive HTML modules, the Kit Build Specifications reference PDF, and all future updates to the curriculum. Physical kits are sold separately — only buy the ones you need.

You can complete the entire program with just the digital tuition if you source materials yourself using the spec PDF. The kits are a convenience and quality-control layer, not a requirement.

Are the kits required?

No. Every kit is optional. The Kit Build Specifications PDF (included with tuition) tells you exactly what's in each kit, which suppliers to use, and what each item costs — so a determined student can source everything independently.

We sell the kits because for most students, the time spent sourcing 199 individual line items would cost more than the kit markup. But if you have time and you want to learn the supply chain as part of the program, the spec PDF supports that path.

What prior experience do I need?

No formal perfumery background is required, but an unusually good nose is assumed. If you struggle to distinguish lavender from rosemary, this program will be frustrating before it becomes rewarding.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Kits ship to the US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, and UAE as a starter set. Some materials (alcohol, certain fixatives) have customs implications in some destinations; we'll contact you proactively if your order needs special handling.

Is there a scholarship?

We offer a limited number of full and partial scholarships each year, prioritized for applicants from underrepresented backgrounds in fragrance and applicants outside the US/EU. Email school@alurent.com with a brief letter of interest.

Refund policy?

Tuition is non refundable as you have access to the tutorials immediately upon payment. Kits are refundable if unopened within 30 days (return shipping at student expense) — once opened, they're yours regardless.

How do I get help while I'm working through the program?

The digital tier is self-study, but enrolled students have access to an alumni Discord where current students and graduates discuss formulas, sourcing, and the practice. For 1-on-1 critique and cohort-style facilitation, we offer a separate Cohort Program at a higher tier — see /course.html or email us.
